Spring has sprung in Northern Virginia and its time to get outdoors!  We have identified a list of fun things to do outdoors this month whether you want to celebrate the Cherry Blossoms, hear some live music or join the fun at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.  We included a couple of indoor events as well.

SHENANDOAH APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Shenandoah Winchester will hold its Annual Apple Blossom Festival this year. In 2021 the Festival theme is back “Back in Bloom.”  There are a variety of fun events planned over the course of 10 days including an 80’s Dance Party and a 90’s Dance Party on different nights. A Bloomin’ Wine Fest, Pumps and Pearls Ladies Party and the Apple Blossom Carnival will offer over 55 thrill seeking rides to midway games.

CITY OF FAIRFAX FISHING DERBY
The Fishing derby is back at Ashby Pond Conservatory. Come enjoy a morning of fishing. The pond with be stocked with hundreds or trout. Bring a fishing rod, bucket, plastic bag and ice.  Bait will be supplied.  Volunteers will offer instruction and fish cleaning.  Three sessions – registration required.

STATE THEATER OUTDOOR CONCERTS
The State Theater is offering 20 FREE outdoor concerts this month. The lineup runs the gambit from from Rolling Stones cover band Mother’s Little Helper to local rockabilly band The Surfabilly Vibe to local rocking blues band The Danger Zone –  and everything in between. Concerts are free and food is available to purchase.

GMU returns with its first in-person concert of the year with The Barclay Brass takes to the outdoor stage on the Mason Pond Lawn on to perform an “out of this world” concert of classical works and themes from the Star Wars soundtrack.

Go on a Blossom Hunt in search of 26 giant sculptures, painted by 25 talented local and national artists and installed in various locations across Washington, DC, and in Maryland’s National Harbor and Virginia’s Aurora Highlands and National Landing neighborhoods!
