Since the fall, construction has been ongoing to bring Meadow Commons to life—a new three-story building that will offer expanded food service, additional and upgraded restrooms, a new gathering space, drink fill-up stations, elevators, and an additional picnic terrace overlooking the Meadow. Additional improvements also include new elevators to connect the upper and lower levels of the Filene Center, and fully accessible paths connecting the picnic pavilions, the restaurant and ADA parking lots to lower areas of the Park. Areas around the building will have additional picnic terraces overlooking the Meadow.
Construction is expected to be completed in time for the summer 2024 concert season.
The ongoing projects are being funded by Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and community donations to its Campaign for Wolf Trap: Our Next Chapter. For the past few years, many improvements have been made to the national park such as:
- Meadow Overlook, new accessible picnic terraces that were built in 2023;
- Adding center aisles and a crosswalk to the Filene Center’s orchestra section in 2022;
- Renovated backstage reception room in 2021;
- Ovations restaurant and Encore Circle Lounge permanent structures in 2021
