Even though the farmhouse itself is 120 years old, sitting on the corner of Wilson Blvd. and North Frederick St., The Urban Farmhouse, the store that calls this Arlington spot home, brings the latest in home decor by local artists and eclectic finds.

When the former owners of The Urban Farmhouse were ready to close up shop in 2021, Sarah Allen stepped in to keep this Bluemont gem open and fulfill a dream she had of owning her own store. Keeping with what made The Urban Farmhouse a mainstay home decor store in Arlington, Allen continues to curated local artist artwork, pottery, linens and stationary and seasonal items to fill the 4-room, bottom level of the old farmhouse.
The Urban Farmhouse is a marvelous shop to find items for your own home—furniture, rugs, pillows, pottery and art—housewarming gifts, party ware, baby gifts and events that will have you socializing.
One of the shop’s big events is the holiday kick-off in November, where there will be wine, snacks and a debut of the holiday products. They also participate in Small Business Saturday, the day after Thanksgiving, which brings shoppers out with great items, sales and giveaways to support local businesses. Allen said she will also be adding in more store hours during the holiday season.
