Great Falls is primarily known for Great Falls Park, a national park where visitors can hike, picnic and enjoy the Falls. But the town also has some great shopping and dining at Great Falls Village Center. The Center is a quaint collection of shops, restaurants and services which all surround a charming town green. It is a great place to stop to shop and grab a bite for an afternoon outing or after a hike at the National Park.
Let’s take a walk through the center.
First stop is Vivid Chill – a quaint gift shop selling clothing, jewelry, candles, home decor and wonderful gift items with a focus on sustainability. One walk through the shop and the vibrant colors and unique handmade creations really stand out.
Continue across the green to Adeler Jewelers. Family owned for three generations, Adeler Jewelers is a unique jewelry store that designs one-of-a-kind fine jewelry. Pick out your favorite piece in the shop or work with one of the jewelers to design a piece made just for you.
Artists on the Green is an artist co-op that offers a workplace and art gallery for 12 local artists. You can shop in the gallery of original paintings for sale. The coop also offers workshops and art classes throughout the year.
If you get hungry while you are shopping there are some great places to nosh at the Village Center.
The Old Brogue is a traditional Irish restaurant and Pub owned by The Kearney Family since its opening in 1981. The restaurant serves up classic Irish dishes such as fish and chips and shepherd’s pie as well as American fare. If you are looking for entertainment they have live music and trivia night as well.
Katie’s Coffee House is an offshoot of The Old Brogue and is located right next door and is a proud Illy cafe. They serve a wide variety of coffee drinks as well as full breakfast options.
Pip Pio Peruvian Cuisine offers traditional Peruvian fare and is the brainchild of owner and chef Danny Pain. His menu includes recipes inherited from his mother and grandmother. The menu offers a great variety of Peruvian classics and Pain is known for his cerviche.
If you enjoy Thai food take a walk over to Finn Thai. Opened in 2012, Chef Ad Sanchez serves up classic Thai dishes she learned to make as a child. Cooking in the DC area since 2012, Chef Ad brings her experience and classic recipes to this Great Falls location.
Ready for some dessert? Head over to Great Falls Creamery. They serve a variety of delicious flavors including seasonal favorites such as Peppermint Candy and Pumpkin Ice Cream. The Creamery also offers fresh organic milk, eggs, cheese, butter, yogurt, local cider and freshly made pies and bread.
The Village Center hosts events throughout the year. They host a Farmers Market on Saturdays from May through December. You can find participating vendors and more information at Great Falls Farmers Market.
During the summer months (May – September) grab a blanket and pack a picnic and head to the Village Center for Sunday Concerts on the Green.
