Summer Design Trends
The FOCUS on NoVA team caught up with Carolyn McCarter, owner of 27 South Interiors in historic downtown Leesburg, VA to discuss what home design trends are popular this summer.
According to McCarter, one of the biggest trends this summer is rattan, bamboo, and natural fiber furniture pieces. Specifically, we have been seeing this used in tables, chairs, consoles, bar carts and étagères. This popular trend adds a desirable textural element to your home and an opportunity to introduce warm and natural tones. As far as this summer’s knock out color palette, McCarter says we have seen a subtle shift away from grays. While still popular, there has been a trend towards “greige”, which is beige gray with taupe undertones versus the popular cooler blue grays of last season. Many designers are bringing color with warm earth tones and pretty, subdued greens such as Benjamin Moore’s Willow Grove. Here are a few of our favorite examples of Sherwin Williams color play this summer:
Need help with some design ideas? McCarter and her team offer full design services. They do full scale interior design or on a smaller scale – helping customers accessorize their home.
27 South Interiors is also doing e-design for customers who are not local. If you don’t live in the area or are just wanting help with a smaller space, their designers will put together an electronic design plan that includes lighting, furnishings and accessories based on your needs and personal style preference. You will be presented with a vision board using products carefully sourced by the design team, and you are free to complete the project at your own pace.
So take advantage of the extra time at home and start incorporating these summer design trends in your home!
