Before you start renovating projects to put your house on the market make sure you do these items. The FOCUS on NoVA Real Estate team walks you through the steps.
If you’re thinking about putting your home on the market and believe there are some items that need to be renovated in your home, call a real estate agent before you start doing any work on your home. The real estate agent is going to be able to run comps on your neighborhood, take a look at what has sold recently and the condition that those homes are in. They then come over and tour your home and will be able to give you an educated opinion as to what is going to be the best return on investment.
If there are renovation projects that need to be done you can work within a traditional sense, such as working with different contractors to have those items taken care of. But make sure you are working with a trusted contractor that may be you or have or you get a recommendation from your real estate agent. In this scenario, contractors are hired for specific work and you pay for that out of pocket.
Another option is working with a real estate team who have contractors that will come in, do the work using on-trend items and fixtures solely for the purpose of getting the home sold and all of the costs are paid for out of your closing costs.
The biggest goal in a home sale is to get the highest sale price with a quick closing. In order to do this, your home needs to show well. Make sure to have a real estate agent take a look at your home to determine if work needs to be done to achieve this goal, and if it does, what work is going to give you the best return on investment when it comes to selling your home.
