DESCRIPTION:The FOCUS on NoVA Real Estate Team and Village Drive Village are proud to welcome Michael Pope to discuss the history behind German POWs in Alexandria during WWII. Prisoners of war were detained at a top-secret camp in Fairfax County\, an interrogation camp the Army set up for some of the most important scientists and German officers captured during the war with code name P.O. Box 1142. That was the address of the secret Nazi interrogation center at Fort Hunt. There\, behind an iron fence and razor wire\, 3\,451 German prisoners of war were interrogated between 1942 and 1945. \nPope is an author and journalist who lives in Old Town Alexandria. He has reported for NPR\, the New York Daily News and the Alexandria Gazette Packet. He has a master’s degree in American Studies from Florida State University\, and he is a former adjunct professor at Tallahassee Community College. He is the author of four books.
