Housing prices are soaring and have been over the past decade. Many potential homebuyers are finding themselves priced out of the areas they work and are having to either continue renting or move further out. Fairfax County is looking to combat this through programs to keep housing costs down through specified affordable housing projects. The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority and Fairfax County Government have established the goal of creating 10,000 new units of affordable housing by the year 2034 and to preserve the county’s existing stock of affordable housing. We take a look at these developments.
