There is good news for frequent flyers in the NoVA area. Construction is underway on a 5th concourse, Concourse E, at Dulles Airport that will offer a 14 gate expansion over 435,000 square feet and will connect directly to Dulles’ underground train system.

The concourse is designed to enhance international and domestic flights coming in and out of Dulles. These enhancements include:

  • 14 new gates
  • 46,000 square feet of shopping, dining and other customer amenities
  • 40,000 square-foot United airline club
  • Direct access to the airport’s underground AeroTrain
  • Convenient passageway for arriving international passengers
  • Spacious and comfortable seating areas
  • Enhanced rest rooms

The new concourse will also include environmentally sound enhancements including LED lighting, high-efficiency climate control systems and support for electric vehicles to service aircraft and carry passengers.

Construction of Concourse E is part of Dulles Next – a multi-year construction program that includes $7 billion worth of airport infrastructure upgrades approved by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) board. The program has received federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Congress passed in 2021.

Concourse E is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Click here to read more about the MWAA development projects for Dulles.
